The Ford F-Series is a series of pickup trucks from the American car company Ford, which has been produced since 1948 already.  The most popular model from these series is the F-150. The F-Series is the best selling car in the US and the second best selling car in the world. Analysts estimate that the F-Series alone is responsible for half of Ford’s profits in the past years.

First generation
The first F-Series was introduced to replace Ford’s previous pickup series in 1948. It was a modern looking pickup with a panoramic windshield and integrated headlights. The model was available in 3 versions:

  • F-1: Half Ton Short Bed
  • F-2: three-quarter-ton
  • F-3: heavy duty

Eleventh generation
In 2004 the new F-Series was placed on the new P2-platform. Initially only the 4,6 l and 5,4 l V8 engines with automatic transmission were available. From the year 2005 it was also available with the 4,2 l V6 and manual transmission. The F-150 from the tenth generation was produced as the Heritage-version until the summer of 2004. In 2004 the  new F-150 was declared the North American Truck of the Year and with  912.000 sold cars a sales record was set.

In 2005 the Super Duty had a face-lift, including a new grille and new interior. In 2007 the truck would have been renewed but due to quality problems this update was postponed to 2008.

Twelfth generation
In 2009 the twelfth generation was launched. It was placed on the same platform as its predecessor. In addition to the optical changes, it became available with a wider range of engines as well.

  • 3.5 l V6
  • 3.7 l V6
  • 4.6 l V8
  • 5.0 l V8
  • 5.4 l V8
  • 6.2 l V8
