The Ford F-Series is a series of pickup trucks from the American car company Ford, which has been produced since 1948 already. The most popular model from these series is the F-150. The F-Series is the best selling car in the US and the second best selling car in the world. Analysts estimate that the F-Series alone is responsible for half of Ford’s profits in the past years.
First generation
The first F-Series was introduced to replace Ford’s previous pickup series in 1948. It was a modern looking pickup with a panoramic windshield and integrated headlights. The model was available in 3 versions:
- F-1: Half Ton Short Bed
- F-2: three-quarter-ton
- F-3: heavy duty
Eleventh generation
In 2004 the new F-Series was placed on the new P2-platform. Initially only the 4,6 l and 5,4 l V8 engines with automatic transmission were available. In 2004 the new F-150 was declared the North American Truck of the Year and with 912.000 sold cars a sales record was set.
In 2005 the Super Duty had a face-lift, including a new grille and new interior. In 2007 the truck would have been renewed but due to quality problems this update was postponed to 2008.
